The Core Planning Team has been tasked
with creating the school district’s mission statement,
core beliefs, objectives and strategies. Their work will
begin toward
the end of November and will be presented in draft form
to the Board of Education at the November 25, 2008, regularly
scheduled board meeting.
The district would like to thank each individual
who submitted his or her name for consideration. The
district would also
like to thank the members of the Core Planning Team for
their willingness, dedication, and commitment. Without
a doubt, the Strategic Plan is one of the largest and most
important endeavors the school system will embark on in
the near future. It will be a challenging but rewarding
process, and the district is confident that the Core Planning
Team’s creative ideas and insights will ensure the
Strategic Plan’s success.
During the month of December, the district will form
the Action Planning Teams from a list of community volunteers,
staff members, and students. All total, from January
through April 2009, the Action Planning Teams will hold
eleven separate meetings to develop the action plans
needed to fulfill the strategies created by the Core
Planning Team. It’s estimated that 150 individuals
from the community will be needed.
The school district is still searching for community volunteers
to serve on the Action Planning Teams. If interested, please
submit your name for consideration on our Web site: www.durangoschools.org,
or call the Public Information Office at 247-5411, ext.
